Xi'an's Ancient City Wall is the best-preserved city wall in China, offering a unique 13.7 km walk or bike ride atop Ming Dynasty fortifications with panoramic views of old and new Xi'an.
Rent a bike and go at opening time (8 AM) to beat crowds; the northwest corner near the North Gate has the best photo spot. Skip the electric shuttle; walk or bike for the real experience. In summer, the wall is open until 10 PM, but bike rental stops at 8 PM—plan accordingly.
