October is a superb month with crisp, clear autumn weather. It's one of the best times to visit Qingdao, though the Golden Week holiday brings crowds.

Layers are key: t-shirts, sweaters, and a medium jacket. Bring long pants and comfortable walking shoes. An umbrella for occasional rain and sunglasses for sunny days.

Golden Week is extremely crowded, so avoid major attractions if possible or go early. Book transport and hotels months in advance. After the holiday, crowds thin and prices drop.
