Zhangjiajie Weather in October

October is cool and comfortable, with autumn colors starting to appear. However, the first week is Golden Week, one of the busiest travel periods in China. Expect huge crowds and high prices then; later in the month is quieter.

Warm layers, a light jacket or fleece, and long pants. A rain jacket is still useful. Comfortable hiking boots and a hat. Bring a camera to capture autumn foliage.

Avoid Golden Week (Oct 1-7) if you dislike crowds; if you must travel then, book everything months in advance. After the first week, crowds thin out and prices drop. Weather can be changeable; pack layers.
