October is one of the best months to visit Shanghai, with clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and low rainfall. However, the first week is the National Day Golden Week, which brings massive crowds and high prices.
Light layers, a sweater or light jacket, and long pants. Bring a mix of short and long sleeves. Comfortable walking shoes are essential.
Avoid the first week of October if possible due to extreme crowds. Book everything in advance. After Golden Week, the city is much quieter and pleasant.
