October is one of the best months to visit Suzhou, with mild, comfortable temperatures and lower humidity. The autumn foliage is beautiful, and the weather is ideal for exploring. However, the Golden Week holiday brings huge crowds.
Light layers, a sweater for evenings, and comfortable walking shoes. A light jacket is useful for cooler days, and an umbrella for occasional showers.
Avoid the first week of October if you dislike crowds; prices are highest then. After Golden Week, the crowds thin and the weather remains lovely. Book everything well in advance for the holiday.
