August remains hot and humid, with frequent rain. The heat can be oppressive, but occasional breaks in the weather allow for outdoor exploration. It's still low season, so crowds are thinner.
Light, breathable clothing, a rain jacket, and an umbrella are necessary. Comfortable walking shoes that can get wet are ideal. Don't forget sunscreen and a hat.
Similar to July, plan around afternoon showers. Many locals escape to nearby mountains for cooler weather; consider a day trip to Qingcheng Mountain. Keep hydrated and use air-conditioned transport when possible.
